A Special Update from Tom Voss

A Note from Veteran Tom Voss of “Almost Sunrise” –
First, I would like to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for the overwhelming support over the past few years. It wasn’t easy for me to put myself out there for the world to see, but I am so grateful and honored from the responses I have received from everyone who has seen Almost Sunrise. I truly feel blessed.
Since our world premiere in 2016, I have been traveling around the country connecting with veterans, their families, and active duty military to hear similar stories of dealing with moral injury, or family members and loved ones doing their best to support their veterans through hard times. It’s become clear to me over the years that I need to continue to put myself out there to help others who are going through the same things I’ve faced since my time in combat.
I have spent a few years teaching breath-based meditation techniques with Project Welcome Home Troops, who provide a free five-session workshop for veterans, their families, and active duty military across the country. Because of this, I’ve had the opportunity to travel around the world and spread these amazing techniques to veterans in need. I’ve been an avid practitioner of these techniques for the last four years, and they have truly changed and transformed my life into one with beauty, love, and honor. So naturally, it is only right that I share my knowledge and continue down this yogic path.
I’m happy to announce that in November of this year I will be pursuing my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification. I will be attending a 10-day intensive training put on by an amazing veteran owned nonprofit, VEToga.
“VETOGA’s mission is to provide yoga, meditation, and healing arts to military, veterans, their families, and communities. We accomplish this by holding free monthly yoga classes, events and veteran specific 200-Hour Teacher Trainings throughout the year.”
I call on your support yet again to help me in my healing journey to become a certified yoga instructor. I’m driven to do this so I can continue to spread the lessons I’ve learned dealing with Post Traumatic Stress, Moral Injury, and the recovery process that comes after war. I have started a fundraising page to support VEToga in their upcoming teacher training. All donations are tax deductible, and will be used to train veterans and their families to become certified yoga instructors.
If you can’t donate as this time, I would ask that you please share the fundraising page through your networks. By doing this, you are directly helping veterans and their families heal from their time in war through yoga.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart, and I look forward to teaching you all what I’ve learned someday soon!
Respectfully,
Tom Voss
